Please Note: This was entirely improvised ad hoc purely as a demo, and recorded using a video camera in the organ loft, with the result that the automatic recording levels mean that overall effects are not as dramatic here as they are in the building. In particular, the Great Organ has been cut back in terms of volume.
Listen for the gradual recovery after the demonstration of the Great. Also, towards the end, the Purcell Fanfare in B Flat is in A-B-A form; in the ‘B’ passage, we have the accompaniment on the Choir and the solo on the Great, but because volumes have not been automatically reduced, the solo (on the Great Trumpet) sounds something akin to the Tuba! Reduction in volume at the return to the ‘A’ theme is obvious here, as well.
